Body Language

Over 50% of human communication is body language. It’s something that has to be studied and constantly considered.

For example, if you don’t make eye contact with people they wont trust you. If you don’t project your voice or stand tall people view you as having a lack of confidence.

Your body language says a lot about who you are and what you’re doing. Never slouch, spit, show up ungroomed, cuss, smoke in public, smell, chew with your mouth open, etc. We must have a professional demeanour, because we are professionals.

Here are some top Body Language tips to consider:

1.  Eye Contact – always make sure to look at someone directly as to assert you confidence and that you are attempting to engage and speak with them.. Once a group is stopped always remember to continue keeping solid eye contact and not just with one person. If there are multiple people in the group be sure to engage with each person remembering to make eye contact with everyone at some point.

2.  Posture- remember to stand tall, shoulders back and head up.  Do not slouch it shows you’re intimidated. People are drawn to confidence so always keep great posture

3.  Arms/Hands- Make sure when approaching groups or once you have them stopped not to cross your arms. This shows people you are closed off to them. When speaking you should be sure to keep arms uncrossed and hands open to show you’re more welcoming.

4.  Walking a few feet- if a group doesn’t stop right away or is still walking away but seems interested, make sure when appropriate to walk a few feet with them to encourage them to listen or to stop.  Remember some groups are shy and need help being stopped. Don’t take someone initially being reluctant to stop as them being disinterested.

5.  Smiling- make sure to smile while you’re speaking to people. Don’t overdo it, but confidence also comes from smiling and showing you’re successful and the product is good.

6. Energy- Remember that we are selling a party! We sell an experience. Your energy has to match this.  We aren’t selling caskets, so make sure to smile, be excited and engaging. If you don’t seem to believe in the party you’re selling, why should the people you’re attempting to reach..

7. Have fun- don’t be scared to joke a bit (appropriately), make them laugh, get them feeling comfortable with you. If you present good vibes to people they’ll be much more open to you. Make it a conversation . Make them your friend
